Angela joined West Financial Services as a Relationship Manager in May 2018 after relocating from Richmond, Virginia. At the age of 14, she began her career working in Richmond with her father, Frank Brown Jr., a well-respected member of the American College of Trust and Estate Council and author of the Virginia Probate Handbook. After graduating from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Women’s Studies, she went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall Law School in Newark, New Jersey. She has more than 25 years of experience in comprehensive financial planning, insurance, and wealth management services.
Angela’s focus is on retirement income planning and working with women, particularly those who are divorcing, divorced or widowed. Over the years she has found that the greatest concern expressed by her clients is running out of money in their retirement years. She works to help her clients secure their financial future. She is a Certified Financial PlannerTM, and is also certified in Long Term Care, Senior Living and Retirement Income Planning. Her education in Senior Living and Retirement Income Planning has enabled Angela to be listed as an Elder Care Provider on ElderCareMatters.com, a resource for planning for and dealing with Issues of Aging.
A native of Richmond, she has served for many years on the University of Richmond’s Estate Planning Seminar planning committee. She is a current member of the Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area, and a retired president and chair of the Financial Planning Association of Central Virginia. She is also a member of the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Business Women’s Giving Circle, Next Horizons, a consulting business council, and an associate member of the Virginia State Bar.
Angela enjoys writing and presenting on topics related to financial planning and has a passion for working to protect vulnerable adults from financial exploitation.
She and her husband, Fred Baker, live in Arlington, VA, where they enjoy spending time with their adult children, traveling, cycling, weightlifting, cooking and eating great food, and constantly learning.
