Stop Kicking the Financial Plan Can

Stack of cans. West Financial Services.

A few months ago, I realized that I needed some help. Between my husband and I working full time and trying to keep our three little girls safe, fed, and entertained, housework kept falling through the cracks. We were losing a battle to the “stuff” that was just piling up. Kids’ toys, clothing, and papers didn’t quite end up where they belonged at the end of the day.

One Friday morning when I couldn’t take it anymore, I typed “professional organizers near me” into my browser and called a few numbers that popped up. Within hours, I had scheduled an appointment with the owner of one of the companies. She came over and, with compassion and understanding, gave me some good ideas that helped energize me in my effort to cut the clutter. I learned that this company offers an hourly service where you can go at your own pace, working to organize one area at a time, or they can do it all at once, for example, when helping a client move to a new home. I scheduled a session with one of her organizers, and when that day came, we worked side by side for three solid hours to transform one room of the house for the better. In doing so we crossed an item off my to-do list that had been there for far too long.

Upon reflection, this experience reminded me a lot of how we help clients at West Financial. In addition to fee-only asset management, we also offer stand-alone hourly financial planning. Through an hourly planning engagement, we can help clients achieve financial organization and filter out distractions to make beneficial changes in their money habits. It took me a long time to seek help with my “stuff,” and I wish I did it sooner. If your to-do list includes achieving peace of mind about your financial picture, please reach out. We’d love to have a conversation about how we at West Financial can help through hourly financial planning, fee-only asset management, or a combination of both.

Oh, and if you also occasionally find yourself at war with the “stuff,” send me a message and I can put you in touch with a great expert!
